Dr Simon Arnesan
My name is Simon and I have recently joined the VetLove veterinary team.
I was born in Christchurch, New Zealand, where I spent my first 20-odd years. I enrolled to do a veterinary degree, mainly because I had a keen interest in the scientific material, but as I progressed through the course I realised how much of a great career being a vet would be.
Upon graduating, I started work in South Australia, where I have worked most of my career and have also spent several years in the United Kingdom. During my career, I had the pleasure of working with a huge number of species, from snakes to seals to alpacas.
Now, 15 years later, I still love what I do. It is a pleasure and a blessing to help so many animals and their owners every day. I have a keen interest in veterinary surgery, especially orthopaedics, and find great satisfaction from repairing broken legs in pets.
Outside of work I have a great passion for the ocean and mountains. I’m a keen free diver and love spear fishing and chasing crayfish. I also spend a lot of time at the beach, swimming in the ocean with my two young kids. Growing up in New Zealand, I used to do a lot of mountain climbing in the snow and skiing. I also enjoy bush walks of all shapes and sizes and getting up to waterfalls and into the mountains.
I am very excited to have moved to this beautiful part of the world and to be starting work with VetLove. I admire the passion VetLove has, with such a caring attitude for both people and their pets. I look forward to meeting you and your pets soon at VetLove Goonellabah and Ballina.
