Meet Jayne Wilson
I grew up on a farm just outside Lismore where my love of animals started. I was very lucky to get a job at Lismore Veterinary Clinic where I worked for about 15 years and studied on and off between overseas travel and having 2 boys. Leaving there when I relocated to Ballina, I started work Shaws Vet Hospital for 8 years before it became VetLove. I am now Practice Manager and love the new responsibilities and challenges it brings each day.
Why did you become a practice manager or vet nurse?
It felt natural to be around animals coming from a farming background, so I jumped at the chance when offered the job in Lismore. I have had other jobs in the past but nothing compares to this. After having various roles over the years as a Vet Nurse it was a fantastic opportunity when offered the role of Practice Manager with VetLove.
What do you enjoy most about being a vet or vet nurse?
I love how everyday is never the same and am always learning and seeing something new and interesting. Of course the puppies and kittens are a bonus. Creating bonds with both the client and their pet is also a very special part of my career.
Do you have any pets at home?
I don’t have a pet now, but Onyx our clinic cat comes home on the weekends with me to be part of the family. She gets the best of both worlds being at work all week doing fun things and home life on weekends!
What’s your special interest in the veterinary field?
I love being in the surgery, there is always something new to experience.
Tell us something interesting about yourself?
I have spent 2 years living overseas and loved every minute but now just love hanging out at home, my dad’s farm or the beach. We live in an amazing part of the world.
What are you most looking forward to in 5 years as a vet nurse
I love the community of Ballina and want to continue helping local pet owners be the best pet parents they can be and continue to build the bond between the client and their pets to our VetLove clinic
